Was great to meet Ian Smith on Sunday. Had a great day out and a flat tyre near Sheffield on the way back! Good to meet up with Brina, Jen and Lizzie and to see the fab book she made of him: 'This is Your Life'. The girls had all worked so hard on putting that together and Lizzie's art is amazing.

It has been a funny week. Les went to Wokingham and helped to push a car. He put his bags on the back seat and the car started and the man drove off with his bags! Someone wrote down the number and he called the Police. They rang the man and he brought the stuff back tonight!. Mince pies, a half eated pizza, and two books, one about the devil (a Christian book)! I'd put it out on Radio Berkshire and the presenter was laughing about the pies and the devil!!
Then I was going into Maidenhead and found a swan trying to cross the dual carriageway. I stopped and rang the Police then ran to help the swan, who had by then crossed safely to the middle of the road and wasn't sure whether to carry on or go back. A woman with a dog stopped the traffic on the other side and I waved my bag at it and it went across to grass on the other side. The woman and I waited a bit as the swan eyed me and seemed to be considering the road again. Then the Swan Rescue van arrived and she baited it with some bread, picked it up and walked off to the van to take it back to the river.
Well I have to keep myself amused now that Waiting Room are not around!

I wish my week had been half as exciting as yours! I've done nothing apart from read about 2 pages of my uni work and try to learn scales and other equally boring but essential things on the guitar. Got to ride my horse today though which was good fun as he was rather full of himself During my boredom though I've found a couple of awesome versions of Livin' on a Prayer on YouTube that I want to try and learn. Chris' version is the best band/virtuoso version, if you like, that I've heard but there's a stunning acoustic duet and fingerstyle version up there that I'd love to be able to play. There's masses of clips of the boys on YouTube too and even about 45 seconds of them doing Santa Claus is Coming to Town! Must have either been at St Andrews or back at the E&W on Christmas Eve.

Well Brina, there's always next week! Keep your eyes open for stray swans or mince pies or even men in cars that have broken down (the cars, I mean!). Anyone else having an odd time? We are off to Wales in a few hours as Clare is going to North Wales for two weeks but I will return to work.

Ooh where in North Wales? I love N Wales and have spent many happy hours walking and camping in the mountains.
Well I'm going back to uni tomorrow so I'm sure my weeks will start to get more interesting.

Have a good time back at Uni Brina, and pay no attention to Mimi - look out for stray men not stray swans -

Cheers Maria Why don't I play things safe and look out for stray swans AND stray men?! Or stray male swans? You can tell I'm bored with my theology revision can't you?

No, technically I do Biblical Studies but I happened to choose the Theology module for last term. Do you know where you want to study? Happy to help if I can.

Hi Brina! Clare is staying with my cousin on the North Wales coast. She can see Liverpool over the water. It is along the coast from Prestatyn. Enjoy Uni!

Ah right cool ok. Not a million miles from me then. Anywhere that's remotely surrounded by hills or a decent beach I love so consequently I adore most of N Wales

Cool. I'm at Sheffield which is the only place in the country that specifically does Biblical Studies (as opposed to RS or Theology) and it has a reputation for being controversial which is good fun at times. I applied to Manchester too and their RS and Theology course was amazing then so I assume it probably still is. Chester is very good for Theology too and as I went to school in Chester I'm more than a little biased towards the city! Bangor is also excellent for theology if you haven't already considered it. Depends how far from home you want to be.

Yes, Chester is not far from North Wales. Clare is there for 2 weeks. She 'might' be going to live in Blackburn soon. Will know on Friday and then go and visit the following weekend to see if it is an option.
