Can't believe that tomorrow will be a year since the first night of SS! (Think it was the 5th that it started anyway) A year since I discovered the acting and singing talents (and all round legendary qualities) of Fletch, and what an awesome year it's been too! (Well Fletch-wise...won't go into the disasterous parts of the year)

Time flies, as they say I reckon Fletch shouldve gone further in SS, his version of 'Tears In Heaven' was so moving and in my opinion better than the original by Clapton. He did brilliantly in the contest, but I still think he was better than some that were there at the end.

Fletch was amazing with 'Tears in Heaven' but I can't say he was better then Clapton because it's not true. I am a huge fan of Eric Clapton and nobody on the planet can do that song like he can. It's his song for his son so it has more meaning when he sings it.
I love Fletch's version though, it works really well. I'm just a big fan of Clapton's ;D

Cover versions or originals - its all down to personal taste. Take 'Mr Tambourine Man' -- I've heard Dylan's version and he wrote it, but prefer the Byrds singing it. I prefer W/Rooms cover versions to the originals, maybe i'm just being biased, but its my choice

I agree with Liz - I'm not sure Fletch's version was better than the original but all the emotion and feeling was there in the song and that's good enough for me when deciding whether I like a song or not.
You can see how much he put into that song on the night because at the end he almost has to snap out of the zone he was in and compose himself for the judges.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion definitely If I offended you Maria, didn't mean to...I just love my Clapton music ;D I think it's great you prefer Fletch's and there's no doubting it was amazing. I actually really loved his version of Bridge Over Troubled Water. That was the best song he did imo throughout the whole SS. I can't say I prefer every single WR cover to the original, wish I could but some songs are just classics and nothing can ever replace them.

No offence taken at all. Maybe its because I love the who atmosphere of live music compared to studio stuff and Fletch,Tommy, Chris and Jeff certainly know how to entertain. I'm sure a lot of people go because of the Dr K character, but leave knowing they've had a great night and thinking Fletch is a pretty decent singer Unfortunately I was too young to ever see my all time musical heroes - The Beatles.

The guys certainly do know how to entertain! If I had a choice between seeing WR or one of the bands that they cover like the Kaisers or Foo Fighters because they were playing on the same night I would always choose WR. You know with WR you're going to get fantastic entertainment and an electric atmosphere as well as classic and original songs. I don't doubt that one of the other big bands wouldn't entertain but a WR gig is something special.

A WR gig is certainly very special and I'd probably choose WR most times. The only exceptions would possibly be Eric Clapton, Bon Jovi or The Killers.

My only exception would be going to watch Liverpool live in the Champions League Final.

I think Fletch would forgive you missing a gig for that one though! We know he'd be there too if he could.

I made it to Athens, wrong result but still a great experience, especially getting up and singing YNWA in the Milan end and some of them joined in as well !! Shame Athens is so far away from Melbourne, I'm sure he'd have loved the atmosphere and the whole occasion.
