Seeing as I can no longer think of LFC without thinking of Fletch, I thought I'd post this news item that's doing the rounds this morning. Incidentally the amount offered for the club isn't all that much more than the amount Five paid for Neighbours when they bought it a few months ago! Not sure what that says about the club or the show though! news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/7197675.stm

Cheers Brina. There's nothing on the official Liverpool FC site, but hopefully, for the good of everyone at the club, something can be sorted out and the American's do sell.
Its no coincidence that since things have been going wrong off the pitch its affected the play on it. I know players get paid lots of dosh but it must have a knock on affect.
The way Rafa Benitez has been treated has been a disgrace, at the games I've been to this season I know who the fans prefer to keep and it aint the Americans !
Their lack of respect in going behind Rafa's back and talking to Jurgen Klinnsman with a view to him taking the manager's job just isnt what Liverpool FC is about - it may be done at other clubs (ie Spurs) but not at LFC. Everything is sorted 'in house' without the papers getting to know anything. The owners promised everything but now realise they dont have the money and what they must remember is that, the club is worth a lot not just because of the history and tradition but also that, in recent years they won the Champions League in 2005 and the FA CUP in 2006 - with Rafa as manager.
And when I think of LFC - I think of Fletch singing YNWA and getting drenched - but at least they won ! ;D

And when I think of LFC - I think of Fletch singing YNWA and getting drenched - but at least they won ! ;D I think that's the key to that day! If they hadn't have won the memories of getting soaked might not be quite so happy I suspect! I hope the takeover business can be happily worked out because they don't deserve to have their quality of football compromised by people with too much money arguing over the club and it's management. There has always been a lot of pride surounding the club and it would be a shame to lose that with club politics etc.

I've just got a text update from the club in which the American owners are denying all knowlege of a takeover. Lets hope its wrong and things are going on in the background. Some of the players, John Arne Riise, in particular, has said that they are upset at the way Rafa's been treated by the American's. A good win tomorrow night against Villa will do for starters.

Just read the article. I'm not sure a protest by the fans against the owners at tomorrow nights match is the way to go, I'd rather they put all their efforts and energy into supporting the players and manager.
The players can get sucked into all the 'politics' at the club when what we want is 3 points in every match and any 'protests' should be done behind closed doors to the people in charge .

The after match interview with Steven Gerrard was interesting tonight -- he said he couldnt say too much, but that the off the field problems were affecting the players. They try not to think about it, but when its in the news day in, day out, it cant be helped and that its been going on for a bit now.
Typical Scouse humour - some of the chanting against the present owners was straight to the point, and cant be repeated on here !! ;D

Heard Nicki on Radio Berkshire mentioning Neighbours yesterday. A woman in the studio said to her that she was keen on Dr K. Oh yes, she said, and I saw him before Christmas! That was the day he was wearing 'the shirt'! Not sure who she supports though.

I see LFC have announced the latest design of their new stadium today. It should be ready for the 2011-2012 season, though I guess there will be a lot of twists and turns in the saga still to come.
By the way Maria, your second team could have done with your fav player Bobbie back last week.......they were played off the park at Elland Road by some pub team from Donny ;-)

It wont be long before the Reds are back on top - where they belong. If only Leeds couldve had my idol, the wonderful Bobby Davison playing last week - the points wouldve stayed at Elland Rd. The man is and always will be a legend

Wow - brilliant painting Maria.
I hope all the new stadium stuff doesn't cause too much chaos with the roads in Liverpool but I won't hold my breath!

Cheers, Brina I had the privilege of meeting Bobby about 20 years ago in the players bar at Leeds - really funny guy with a gorgeous Geordie accent I hope they build decent car parks for the new stadium - Anfield is the worst ground I've been to for getting in and out of. As its the Liverpool thread, here's a painting of Stevie G :

Wow again! Not technically related to the takeover bid but still Liverpool related - have you seen this song about Peter Crouch on YouTube www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5YJ7yZJxA0 ? It's from the same guy who did the tribute to Karl that was posted in the other thread.
