What do you guys think of the Premier League going global?
Personally I think it's stupid, it will affect the players mentally and physically and it would just be weird to see say Manchester City V Manchester United in the USA. What is the point aside from the Premier League wanting more money? Maybe it's good for overseas fans but there's not much else benefiting from it.

It does seem very stupid. Don't the players have enough to think about with 38 games already and then the Champions League, UEFA Cup, FA Cup, international games.... Sure the likes of Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool and other big name clubs have masses of support in other parts of the world but how many Americans or Chinese are going to be regular followers of the smaller clubs in the Premiership?

It may be something that the Premier League want but it has be ok'd by FIFA and their president Sepp Blatter is very much against the idea. Can you imagine the players jetting to the other side of the world to play in 1 match (1 match for starters anyway), the poor (!) little darlings with be complaining of tiredness, and what happens if they pick up an injury? - they then wont be able to play in the regular matches and the fan who pays their money week in week out suffers. Sure the big clubs have a pool of players to choose from, but all fans want to see the top players.
Its all down to greed, just plain greed.

I guess commiserations are in order for Fletch, Maria and all other Liverpool supporters tonight. Sounds like Barnsley's keeper was the saviour of the day keeping out the shots but it's still unlucky to lose in injury time. Meanwhile elsewhere United trounced Arsenal so I'm a happy bunny!

Yes, I was thinking that Fletch will be unhappy and Maria too! My hubby is not happy either. Also Reading are in trouble. After they beat Liverpool when Fletch was over here they haven't been too hot at all! Think that beating Liverpool was too much for them and they haven't got over it! Good job that Fletch wasn't able to stay in Reading for the match that day! He might have had a fit when Reading knocked L'pool out. We kept him informed throughout the match and that was bad enough for him!!!

It was a brilliant match and the atmosphere was electric, I've never heard YNWA sung so loud.

Javier Mascherano signed a 4 year deal at Liverpool today - this is great news, he's a class player and alongside Gerrard, Carragher,Torres and Reina - he'd be in my team week in week out. For anyone who's got Setanta Sport - The Reds are on tv on Sunday, away to Bolton.

Cracking Champions League game tonight against Arsenal. Went right down to the last few minutes including a penalty calmly put away by Gerrard. Means Liverpool will face Chelsea in the semi-final yet again.

I wonder what Maria was watching tonight? I had Les watching Liverpool on one TV and Ieuan watching Arsenal in the other room! I rang a friend and could hear strange noises in the background... Her husband shouting, not at her but at the match!

Well I'm at my brother's flat at the moment which is just a few miles down the road from Anfield so it's a wonder we couldn't hear the screaming from the stadium itself.
My brother was on the phone for much of the second half but kept shouting at the TV every time there was a goal and then telling the person on the other end of the phone what was going on!

So Tom Hicks appears to be trying to force out Rick Parry, the CEO. Personally I think it's disgraceful that the owners have let the club's private buisness out in public. I hope Liverpool are bought by someone decent because this Hicks guy seems to think he's God's gift. I also hope Benetiz stays because I believe he is a good manager.

Liz, where did you get that quote from...? A magazine or the man himself?

That was from Fletch himself in an interview with Jo Whiley during last year's tour! It's in the interview section of the website I agree that Benitez is a good manager and I wish they'd sort the ownership stuff out because it's wrong that the business side of the game is allowed to overshadow the actual playing in my opinion. Sure they wouldn't be able to play if there weren't owners of the clubs to provide the money but it's the actual football that should be in the headlines and not the behind-the-scenes business.

Well unless I've missed something the big game doesn't seem to be on terrestrial TV tonight which sucks! Going to have to listen to it on the radio/internet which I don't like doing because I can't actually see what's happening when commentators start getting excited.
