I only watch it cos Fletch & Jackie are in it, once they've gone, there will be no point. Talent wise, they are miles ahead of the rest.

I like Steph too and we loved Libby...but they didn't keep her.
Matt was nice and Stingray and Lyn...going, going...gone!
If I know them personally, then it makes all the difference about watching but Alan and Jackie are in a class all of their own, the tops!
The more new ones they get the less inclined I am to watch but it made big news in Oz offering places in Neighbours for the youngsters, which I guess was the idea...publicise it with a competition and bring in new blood and their age group might start watching and continue to do so (in Oz, I mean).

I know what you guys are saying, I really dont think I'd watch it if Fletch wasnt in it. Its nice getting this wee feeling inside when he comes on, and you just get all proud that you know him lol!! Sad or what

I can't really see Neighbours getting 3 million and 40% share at lunchtime now.
That one of the reasons why Neighbours is famous today and still gets mentions in the media.
you should hear people on other threads, (espeically those who watch Neighbours as family and those who watch it becuase it is on at a convenient time as nothing else interesting is on, and not becuase they are hardcore fans) many people won't be watching it at 6:30pm and if it is on FIVE, as they are not loyal to FIVE (as they are with The BBC).
I'm surprised the Neighbours cast haven't said anything the company that makes Neighbours. many of us feel let down by the stars of Neighbours, especially those over 13,000 of those who petitioned, we could have supported by ther cast of Neighbours, it is an end of an ere... and too many a fantasitc (family) show.

Its not sad at all Jillian, Fletch is special to us, but he is also in my opionion, a very talented actor - he can do comedy and he can do serious and i especially loved him in Sword of Honour as well as Nbours. For me, Fletch and Jackie are Nbours and thats no disrespect to the others in the show.
I thought 6.30pm would be more of a convinient - get the washing up etc out of the way and sit down as a family to watch it.

Yes, a lot of people I talk to say that they used to watch Neighbours when at school but once they left and went to work they were not home in time to watch it. It airs at 6:30 in Oz...but that doesn't help over there, does it?
I was asked by people over there why we had come to Oz and when I mentioned coming to visit Neighbours, they looked blank at me. They were in Nunawading, just up the road from the studios. They didn't even know that the studios were there. But then, Oz is a big place!
Mind, we did find that people were very similar to the Neighbours! We met one woman in her street and before we knew it we were in her house being shown around and invited back. Next thing she was inviting us to stay with her next time we went down under!
I met another bloke at the petrol station and he invited us to visit him, which we did. Another man started a conversation in an art gallery and I knew most of his life story by the time his wife and son finished looking at the art!

If I know I'm not gonna be home to watch it, I make sure the dvd recorder is set up - I guess its how much you want to watch it and how big a fan you are. Where there's a will there's a way .....

I was in the travel agents getting stuff about Oz and she was all like, so what sights do you want to take it? My reply was Ramsay Street and she just looked at me. Idiot. But Neighbours is an institution. Every day we used to watch it in the halls of res. Sometimes me and my pal Helen would watch it at lunchtime then literally not move from our seats until the teatime one. Thats terrible. No wonder i put on so much weight at uni But the story lines are wearing thin, I must admit. Its crap for ages then you get a hard hitting one like Kerri being ill and stuff. But I feel the story lines are just repeated over and over again. It cant be easy trying to come up with original ideas but its prob cos its on 5 episodes a week. Maybe they should cut it down!! The more I think about it, the more I'm gettin fed up with it

I don't think the writers have done too badly given it's been going for over 20 years and with all the cast changes they've had but it's the long standing characters that I'm beginning to worry about. Like Fletch and Jackie, Ian and Tom....once you've been in a show for so long there will be a limited amount of storylines left for you. I guess that's one of the reason the Kinski kids were brought in because once Alex died it then gave Susan a new family and obviously now that she's back together with Karl they can have plenty of family based storylines. Certainly the last few weeks have been fantastic with Karl and his beard so the writers have obviously still got plenty up their sleeves which is good.

Yeah I agree with you there after seeing today's episode especially! Fletch and Jackie's stuff was fantastic but the rest left a lot to be desired.

Yes, let's have Neighbours with only Jackie and Alan in it! How about that?
Most of us only seem to perk up and watch properly when they come on screen!
But who would have imagined Alan with a beard or not being a doc??
What next? A deep sea diver?

I think to be honest he and Jackie could convincingly pull off *any* storyline they were given. They should just have their own show.

I'm beginning to like the Kinski kids as well, - the Kennedy-Kinski clan make a good family unit.
if truth be told who'd bother watching if Fletch and Jackie werent in it? How them two havent won a logie is beyond me.
