No two ways about it, Alan is a true legend. I couldn't help but think how truly awesome it would have been had they performed more of their own original compositions but hey, it was still one of the best concerts I have ever witnessed. Thanks Michael and Liz, for the very amusing story.

God, it was "spiggin awsome" as the great man said himself. It was just so utterly fantastic it was unbelievable! We weren't at the front, but at the side at the top of the steps so we had an excellent view and didn't get crushed by the mad people down in "the pit!"
I shant go into what he sang as other people have already done that and I would just end up repeating them and that would be pointless. Just wanted to say that when he was saying "if I wanted someone to kiss I would choose Sarah" I was cheering louder than any male in there. I love her....obviously not as much as I love Fletch though.
I had many CD's to get signed. My one that I ordered from the internet came THAT DAY and was waiting for me when I got home before we left for Reading so we could listen to it on the way there which was excellent. I bought two more, one for my friend Lowri and one for Bella_B here and my friend Magda bought one for herself (she did need a bit of pursuasion to start with but she thanks me for it now.) After standing in a very horrible queue for what seamed like hours after he went off stage to get our CDs signed it was eventually our turn to meet the great man himself. I ran straight up to him and flung my arms round him. He seamed so happy to see me (even though he didn't know me from Adam) and was still on a complete high from the whole experience. I told him that I loved him and that he was a beautiful man (it's an improvement to what I gabbled on about at the back stage of Malvern...believe me) and then we got our CDs signed and my autograph book (yes I still have one) and had a photo taken with him.
Unfortunately none of the photos are great, the one we got with us and him is particuarly bad and fuzzy which is slightly dissapointing but who cares! The memory will live with me for the rest of my life.
The atmosphere in that place was just electric last night and I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
I got home at 2am and had to get to work for 8am going via Gloucester train station to drop Magda off. Suprisingly I got through the day very well (with the help of two cans of Red Bull)
Just to say anyone who does actually go to Reading University, you are very lucky as your SU bar is a very lovely place. It puts Chester's to shame (tis where I'm going in September)
------------------------------------------------------------------------ Don't Look Back In Anger is the greatest song anyway and he really did it justice.
I wont need to see Oasis live now, Fletch sang the two greatest songs and to be fair, he's a lot prettier than the Gallager brothers

Hi everyone! Somehow we missed speaking to anyone from this site. We just got our place in Reading beside the barrier and could not move anywhere or we'd have lost it. As one of us was in a w/chair everyone was really nice to us. Thanks everyone! We were very happy when Alan came forward on the stage and saw us by the barrier and acknowledged us!! Then we felt really uneasy that after the show, because of the w/chair we were first to greet Alan. He jumped down to meet up with us. We already know him from St Albans, Elephant and W/barrow (Melbourne) and Malvern so we were thrilled to catch up again. Thanks guys for being so nice to us and not getting upset because we kinda jumped the queue. Sorry we didn't get to chat. Miriam

I was at the Portsmouth Uni gig last night, and all I can say was that it was superb.
With it being my last night out whilst at uni (I'm [hopefully] graduating this summer), I couldn't have asked for a better final night out, than by getting to meet Alan in person.
This is one night that I will always remember for many years to come.
The fact that there were massive queues to get into our SU sums it all up - Alan IS a legend!

Wow, really, I'm not sure what can be said. Our comments last night summed it up really, I think we're all still up in the clouds somewhere.
We had already decided that we needed to get to the union early, so decided at 9pm. As we walked past at 8 to go to a pub, the queue was already massive, and I think a couple of us decided there and then there was no chance of us getting in. When we went back at 9, the queue had grown in such proportion that it doubled back on itself. As we were on Alan's guest list, we thought we'd try our luck at walking straight to the door. That's when all our fears were realised, and the bouncers were like, 'Sorry, who are you?'. They went away for what seemed an age, but actually all they were doing was ringing Alan to check that we were who we said we were. After confirmation, we were escorted straight up to the room the gig was in.
There wasn't too many people in then, so we managed to get a good pitch, and spent the next 2 hours wangling our way closer to the front and nearer the centre of the stage. My feet still haven't recovered from being trodden on so much! I don't think I've ever been so crushed in all my life. It was more manic than any gig with 15,000 people in the crowd I've been too.
When Fletch came on it became even more manic. The crowd surged, and the chants of Susan went up, despite us trying to start a breakaway Sarah chant! The next 45 minutes are all a blur, but an amazing experience. He seemed to so enjoy being on the stage, and we certainly enjoyed watching him. I took many photos, and will post them in due course.
After the gig had finished we went to queue to meet him. After standing without moving for about half an hour, by which time our feet were well and truly stuck to the floor, we managed to get up en masse to meet the man himself. He seemed genuinely pleased to see us, and that completely made our night.
What a fantastic weekend, roll on November!
Above all, thank you Fletch, you made our weekend extremely memorable.

Yea, that was me, still buzzing. Getting my pictures back from the developers this lunchtime (hopefully) so I'll post a link once I've put them online.

I wouldn't hope for too much - I took a disposable camera in so I'm not sure of the quality, plus I was on the second row, so lots of taking between people's heads! I'll try and get them up this afternoon though.

The gig photos that I took, along with some other random ones whilst we were at the gig and during the weekend, can be found here -> neighboursboard.co.uk/FletchJune05/They are all a bit grainy, it's the last time I pay to get photos on CD, although when shrunk down I'm sure they won't be so bad, I just haven't had time to do them all!
